Country: Scotland
Region: Islay
Distillery: Bunnahabhain
Type: Single Malt
Flavor: Unpeated
Notes: This dram is nothing if not complex. This Bunnahabhain 12 year old single malt (Warehouse 9, Cask 1635, 60.4% ABV, filled 03 December 2018) is probably the single most interesting dram I’ve ever tasted. It’s rich and full-bodied, and hit every part of my mouth it could find. To me, it’s bursting with fruit and herbs and a mellow flowery sweetness imparted by the Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. I had the pleasure of first tasting this on a rainy winter’s day at the distillery, which is the only place you can get it. I found it finished with a lingering licorice note, though the people I was with begged to differ (that’s why we’re all entitled to the truth of our own tastebuds after all). I respect the sheer complexity of it. A wonderful dram.
